On the first of October 2019 a truck carrying 18 endangered and protected Green Turtles crashed on Sunset road in the early morning.
Bali is known for the illegal turtle meat trade and the black market, despite much effort from the government and NGO's, is still thriving.
The case is still under investigation by BKSDA. As the driver disappeared on the spot, further investigation is needed. Hopefully there are no other trucks that carried turtles that night.
Westerlaken foundation assisted in the medical check up, measuring, weighing, and tagging of the Green Turtles, which hopefully can be released soon.
