Help Eastern Indonesia after a cyclone hit several islands

Tropical Cyclone Seroja is a currently active tropical cyclone that was responsible for a series of significant and deadly flash floods and landslides in East Timor and southern Indonesia.

As of 8 April 2021, it is estimated that at least 165 people were killed by the storm. Dozens remain missing, while thousands of people have been displaced. The cyclone damaged or destroyed at least 90 houses and five bridges in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province while 2,655 people were evacuated to government-owned shelters. As you can imagine this is a big risk within the current ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Westerlaken foundation is an active member of Bali NGO and Associates, an organisation working alongside registered NGOs and Aid Organisations in Bali to promote compliance, sustainability and collaboration in order to foster and enhance active responses to the current COVID-19 crisis and beyond. The goal of Bali NGO and Associates is to create cohesion between organisations on the island, so that between us we can assist as many of those in need as possible. As Bali NGO and Associates we were able to establish contact with an specialised group in emergency response currently evaluating needs in the island of Andonara, a remote island severely hit by the cyclone, with almost non to no help arriving till now.

We are raising 1.000 euro first to establish first aid help towards the region while assessment is being done.
