Yesterday we got notified by TCEC Serangan about two turtles.
One green turtle (40x38 cm) was found on Pantai Kelan by surveying army personnel and brought to TCEC in a weak condition. Unfortunately the turtle died later that day.
A fisherman also brought in a Olive Ridley turtle (60x62 cm) to TCEC with a broken shield. The turtle remains under observation with TCEC and BPSPL fast response team.
Bali’s beaches are currently closed, which has pro’s and con’s for the turtles. They can lay eggs (or eggs can hatch) without stress caused by human interaction, but stranded turtles, dolphins and whales in need can go unnoticed as well.
