Exactly 2 years ago a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck Palu, Sulawesi, followed by a tsunami. We were still giving relief in Lombok and were devastated by yet another disaster. To make a proper consideration where to help we went to Palu 2 days after the tsunami hit. As the government declared this a national disaster and international help was welcome, we decided to keep focusing on our aid in Lombok. 4.340 lost their life in the Palu earthquake amd tsunami and what we saw in the impactzone will never be able to be erased from our minds. ‘Every little wave from the now calm water brought in another personal item, a shoe, a bag, a childrens book, a police hat. Everywhere the smell of death, the look of desperation, the fear of what was to come’.
